Tony's Week Projects- Week One

Project Audio~ Dear Alice

Introduction:

For this week we had to choose a video of our choice, preferably one with bad audio and create new audio for it, I wrote this on my week by week page under the heading 'Dear Alice'. This is my long post about my progress and how I made my sound.
I chose Dear Alice as my video choice because I felt like the original audio didn't match up at times with the video, though the audio wasn't exactly bad I just thought I could fix some of the non-matching sounds, like the drawing sync-ing and add more detail to the bus sounds and paper movements by layering more noise and making the sound perception better to how the camera was angled at the scene.

Recording My Own Sounds:

I used Adobe Audition to create a lot of my own sounds to make the project a bit more challenging I made as many as the sounds as I could. I recorded in SpringBoard TV's Sound booth the sounds straight onto Audition making a multi-track for them. In the picture, you can see all the sound recordings on the multi-track board.
As you can see in the pictures I added the video when I recorded my sounds so I could get the right movements and sound patterns so they would match up better with the video. It also made it easier to see what other sounds were needed and things I didn't think about in the planning.

Starting to build the sound:

After recording my sound I got some of the sounds that I couldn't record myself off of Tony's hard-drive, like the bus sounds and footsteps est. Then I made a new multi-track to start building up the final soundtrack for the video. I decided to go with the bigger sounds or the most important sounds. So I put in the repeated overlay of the bus sound. Even though the bus stops within the video I did this as it would be easier to take out the bits I didn't need when I edit that part in detail.

I labelled the tracks to keep them in order, as this made it simpler to see what tracks are what.
Overall, the project went well I think if I worked the audio for the little sounds and detail it more I think I would be able to create a realistic sounding audio track for this project.

Note: the video here isn't as finished and fine-tuned as I would have liked but since I am now moving on into next two-week project I am finished with how it looks. I am happy with the outcome but I would have liked to fiddle around with some more and current sounds within the piece.
